Brett Nicholls, Managing Director adds, "We were very pleased to be nominated along with 400 members of the Island's business community. As the evening progressed, our nominations were announced as winners for both categories which was amazing! Having returned to our seats smiling ear to ear, the last and most prestigious award was about to be announced.

As we watched the screen, we were surprised to see our product appear with my voiceover. Initially we thought we had been nominated. Unbelievable! But no, as the video continued, IOW Group was announced as BUSINESS OF THE YEAR!

Nothing but true elation and huge pride for all the hard work the team has put in thus far. Everyone at IOW Group should be proud indeed. Well done team!"

We'd like to extend a huge congratulations to all other nominees and award winners, as well as thank you to the Isle of Wight Chamber for organizing a fantastic evening.

About IOW Group

IOW Group takes its name from our place of origin, the Isle of Wight where we continue to operate today. IOW group started trading in 2016, and since then, we've had year-on-year growth where our mission is to transform the oil filtration industry for more efficient operations, whilst having a positive impact on the environment.

Challenges in Oil Filtration

Traditionally, industrial engines rely on standard filters to clean lubrication oil. However, these filters allow smaller abrasive particles to pass through under pressure. Overtime, these particles act like liquid sandpaper, gradually eroding critical engine components, compromising performance. Despite the existence of centrifugal oil filters, the technology has remained largely unchanged for decades, failing to keep up with modern demands.

Our Technology

At IOW Group, innovation is at the core of everything we do. Our team of engineers have developed state-of-the-art Centrifugal Oil Filters that are 150% more efficient than the current market leaders. By enhancing the traditional centrifugal technology with patented advancements, we've revolutionized oil filtration, offering superior separation capabilities. Our new technology not only boosts engine performance, but also aligns with tighter emission controls, contributing to global efforts in reducing carbon emissions.

Manufacturing on Site

To ensure the highest quality standards, we manufacture and assemble our products onsite in Ryde. We’ve recently invested in cutting-edge collaborative robots (cobots) to increase our production team’s output capacity. This addition enables us to maintain continuous manufacturing operations, even outside regular business hours. Moreover, our Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines allows us to produce components at precision level with tight tolerances to improve overall quality. This meticulous approach allows us to streamline lead times, reduce costs and minimize waste.

Global Reach

IOW Group serves clients across various industries, including marine, chemical, power, transport, mining, and oil. IOW Group plays a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and longevity of large industrial diesel engines crucial within production processes. Moreover, our network of partners spans Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, enabling us to expand our global reach and deliver cutting-edge filtration solutions to customers worldwide.

Overview: YANMAR 8N21L-GV A client carried out a trial upgrade on an auxiliary engine lubrication system, replacing an existing GF-2 type centrifugal filter with an MP090 unit supplied by IOW Group. The system operates with a 1,200-litre oil sump capacity, using Shell Argina S240 lubricating oil while running on VLSFO 380 CST fuel. The objective of the trial was to assess whether the MP090 could deliver improved contaminant removal compared with the GF-2, while also introducing remote performance monitoring that had not previously been available

For today’s marine superintendent, filtration is no longer a background consideration. It’s a direct lever on reliability, cost control, and vessel availability. With tighter schedules, leaner crews, and rising pressure to reduce operating costs, the margin for error has all but disappeared. Every unplanned stop, every premature oil change, every maintenance-heavy system chips away at performance and profit. That’s where smarter filtration earns its place on board.

In the wire extrusion industry, maintaining clean process oil is critical to ensuring consistent product quality, protecting equipment and minimizing downtime. Contaminants such as carbon, soot, metal fines, and degraded oil by-products can quickly compromise performance, leading to frequent filter changes, increased maintenance, and rising operating costs. Centrifugal oil filtration offers a proven, cost-effective solution to these challenges.
